Handmade Quilt Care Instructions

Your Cheryl’s Quilts quilt was made by hand and is designed to be enjoyed for many years. A little extra care when washing and drying will help preserve the fabric, stitching, and overall appearance of your quilt.

  • Machine wash in cold water using a gentle or delicate cycle.
  • Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach or harsh cleaning products.
  • Wash the quilt separately or with similar colors.
  • Avoid fabric softeners, which can leave residue on the fabric over time.
  • Tumble dry on low heat, or lay the quilt flat to air dry.
  • Avoid high heat, which can cause unnecessary shrinkage and wear.
  • Make sure the quilt is completely dry before folding or storing it.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Some slight shrinkage, puckering, or softening after washing is normal. These small changes are part of the character of a handmade quilt and often give it an even softer, more comfortable feel with use.

For everyday care, shake the quilt out occasionally and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause fabrics to fade over time.

With proper care, your handmade quilt can remain a beautiful and useful part of your home for many years to come.
